Packing the Perfect Pickleball Bag: Must-Haves & Nice-to-Haves
A Thoughtful Guide to Packing Like a Pickleball Champ
You’ve got a big game (or at least a big social showdown) coming up. The last thing you want? To show up unprepared, begging for sunscreen or searching your bag like a raccoon digging through last night’s trash. A well-packed pickleball bag keeps you comfortable, ready for anything, and—most importantly—looking like you’ve got it together.
The Must-Haves (Don’t Even Think About Leaving These at Home)
Your Paddle(s) – Yes, this seems obvious. Yes, people forget them. If you have a backup, bring it—someone always needs one.
Pickleballs – Courts get crowded, and balls disappear like socks in a dryer. Having extras means you’re always ready to play.
Water Bottle – Hydration is not optional. A solid, insulated bottle keeps your water cold even when the competition heats up.
Towel – Whether it's for wiping sweat or drying off your grip after a drop shot winner, you’ll be glad you have one.
Sunscreen & Lip Balm – Sunburn and cracked lips? Not on our watch. Reapply between games like the responsible adult you pretend to be.
Hat/Visor & Sunglasses – Protect your eyes from the sun (and your ego from those lobs you totally misread).
Court Shoes – A good pair of court shoes means fewer rolled ankles and more stability. Your running shoes won’t cut it.
First Aid Kit – Band-aids, athletic tape, and ibuprofen. You never know when a blister or a minor tweak will try to ruin your fun.
Nice-to-Haves (Because You Like to Be Extra)
Cooling Towel – Feels like air conditioning for your face. Highly recommend.
Electrolytes or Snacks – Because "hangry" is not a good look on anyone.
Grip Enhancer or Overgrips – Sweaty hands? No problem. Keep that paddle from slipping mid-volley.
Extra Socks – Nothing ruins a game faster than soggy socks. A fresh pair is an instant refresh.
Portable Chair – If your club doesn’t have seating, you’ll be glad you have a place to park between games.
Pickleball Rulebook – For those moments when a certain someone (we all know one) insists they’re right. Knowledge is power, however, use it wisely.
The perfect pickleball bag isn’t just about carrying stuff—it’s about showing up prepared, playing your best, and having a great time. Pack smart, play hard, and never be the person asking to borrow a paddle.
